Richard A. Hiteshew was President of Chesapeake Advisors, Inc, a fee based, Registered Investment Advisor. He specialized in investing in income producing individual securities with an emphasis on preservation of capital and low risk. All accounts were commission free.. Chesapeake also provided fee based financial and estate planning, business valuation services along with asset management services.

Chesapeake Advisors, Inc. was incorporated in 1997 by Richard while he was a Branch Manager with Raymond James Financial Services. While affiliated with Raymond James, he held Series 7, 63, 65, and 24 NASD Securities Licenses. He also has held a Maryland All Lines Insurance License, Maryland Real Estate License and a Maryland Investment Advisors License.

He received a Masters Degree in Finance from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter(CLU).

Richard is a former Adjunct Faculty member of Dundalk Community College, Prince Georges Community College and Anne Arundel Community College where he taught courses leading to the Maryland Property and Casualty licensing qualification.

An active community member, Richard has served as a Boy Scoutmaster. He served as President of the Maryland Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation. He was a Board member of the Institute of Notre Dame for six years. As a charter member of the Rotary Club Catonsville – Sunrise, He was Treasurer for six years. He was the President of the CEFM Network (formerly the Catonsville Emergency Food Ministries), a Community Assistance Center.

In 2008, Baltimore County Executive, James Smith, presented Richard with the Baltimore County, Dr. Martin Luther King, Content of Character Award for his work with the Catonsville Emergency Food Ministries.

He is the project leader for the Catonsville Canopy Tree Project, a twenty year volunteer plan to plant 200 canopy trees each year in the greater Catonsville area.

The Rotary Club of Catonsville – Sunrise selected Richard for its Rotarian of the year Award in 2006 and the following year recognized him with the Paul Harris Fellowship for his service to the Club and Catonsville community.

In his free time, Richard is an accomplished modeler and has one of the largest collections of large scale model automobiles in the country. He collects signed first edition books. He has every one of Stephen Hunter’s novels, fine first editions and all signed by the Pulitzer Prize winning author. An auto enthusiast and former autocross competitor, he also self published a book of the cars he has owned.

Along with his wife, Toni, he traveled to Paris in 1997 where his family participated in a home exchange for one month. Their three children, Paul, Kathleen, and Mark learned to live in the French community while traveling throughout France and parts of Germany. Richard enjoys traveling with his family. He is an accomplished cook and along with his wife, also an accomplished cook, enjoys experiencing new restaurants, especially while traveling. He has been married for 42 years to his wife, Toni, a retired Master Foreign Language teacher at Western School of Environmental Science and Technology.

Richard and Toni have lived and worked in the Catonsville Area for more than 30 years.
